I interviewed Liz Hague on July 26th 2012, while she was running the first Bristol Old Vic taster sessions for the yet to be created, Adult Company. Here she gives an insight into what the sold out sessions comprised of and how a non-professional Adult Company might start devising the work from scratch. It sounds like a really inspired decision to make work by the people, for the people, with the people......you get the idea.
Katie Mitchell speaks about using multimedia in the production "..some traces of her." I maybe really behind the curve here, but I have only just discovered the National Theatre's video resource of which this is one film. They have their own youtube channel which this film is on. There is an incredible amount of free information from vocal warm up techniques to behind the scenes interviews on lots of their productions.
Here is a short clip I shot just after doing the Vamos Theatre mask workshop at the Tobacco Factory. It was very strange working inside a mask, strange and exciting. The isolation and lack of connection is extremely difficult to work with, you have to create secret signs just so you know when someone is next to you. Its all about focus and I would guess the opportunity for error is massive but the power of these faces was something. Vamos Theatre cast from their workshops so check out the video for dates.
